Export from Gemini

5 min read

There are two ways to get your Gemini data: Google Takeout (formal export) and the Gemini Activity page (manual copy). Unfortunately, neither gives you full conversation exports like ChatGPT or Claude do.

NOTE
Important limitation: Google does not currently provide a way to export complete Gemini conversations. Google Takeout exports contain mostly metadata with very little actual chat content. The Gemini Activity page shows only the beginning of each conversation, not the full thread. There is also no way to export Gemini's memory separately — Google does not offer a memory export feature. These are still the best options available, but set your expectations accordingly.

Option 1: Google Takeout

This is the official export method, but the data you get back is minimal — mostly metadata and snippets rather than full conversations.

  1. Go to Google Takeout

Visit takeout.google.com and sign in with the Google account you use for Gemini.

  2. Deselect all products

By default, all Google products are selected. Click Deselect all at the top of the list so you export only what you need.

  3. Select “Gemini Apps”

Scroll down and find Gemini Apps in the product list. Check the box next to it.

  4. Choose export format and delivery

Click Next step. Choose ZIP format and email delivery, then click Create export.

  5. Download the archive

Google will email you when it's ready (usually 10–30 minutes). Download the ZIP and upload it to the AI Migrator.

Option 2: Gemini Activity Page (Manual)

You can browse your Gemini activity and manually copy useful context. This only shows the beginning of each conversation, but it can still capture key topics and preferences.

  1. Open Gemini Activity

Go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini or open gemini.google.com and click the Activity button.

  2. Browse your conversations

You will see a list of your past Gemini interactions. Each entry shows the beginning of the conversation — typically your first message and a snippet of the response.

  3. Copy relevant context

Look through your activity for conversations where you shared personal preferences, background, projects, or working style. Copy those snippets and paste them into the AI Migrator's text field.

TIP
Since Gemini's export options are so limited, you may get better results by simply writing down what you remember telling Gemini about yourself and pasting it into the AI Migrator. Your own summary of your preferences and context is often more useful than the sparse export data.
NOTE
Make sure Keep activity is turned on in your Gemini settings, otherwise your past conversations won't appear in the Activity page. Note that even with it on, Google auto-deletes activity older than 18 months by default.
